“Our family had a wonderful experience staying at Maxson House. The house was beautifully decorated & very accommodating to guests. My elderly father was able to stay in the bedroom downstairs & the kids loved the "play area" in the kids room. There were lots of added touches that made it special: a wonderful welcome basket, a tray with amenities and "in case you forgot" items in each bedroom, a well-stocked coffee corner with a great selection of coffee pods, a guest book with all the home information & local recommendations. It was also fun reading the book about the history of the home. The location was perfect; Close enough to easily get to all the activities in New London, Groton, Noank, Stonington, & also close to downtown Mystic. We’d definitely stay there again when our family comes back to the area. Thank you for your hospitality!”

“We had a lovely time. It’s in a perfect location for exploring the area - Noank, Mystic, Stonington, Westerly beaches - everything’s within an easy drive. It’s also perfectly formatted for families (in our case, 2 families and 4 young kids). We had busy days out, followed by dinners at home, which benefited from a well-appointed kitchen and outdoor grilling and dining space. Before we closed the door at check-out, our kids were asking when we could come back - and all the grownups agreed that we must! Thanks, can’t wait to do it again.”

“I just wish there was a way to give MORE stars! Our week-long experience in this home was wonderful. The home exceeded our expectations, with lots of added touches, plenty of high-quality towels in the bathrooms, multi-outlet power boxes by each bed… so plenty of spaces to plug in phones & tablets, a well-stocked coffee corner with a great selection of coffee pods and tea bags, and a delightful patio in the private yard. The owners thought of everything. Such a beautiful historical home with all the modern conveniences. We enjoyed reading the book about the history of the home. We were in the area for our son's graduation/commissioning from the Coast Guard Academy. Close enough to easily get to all the activities in New London & enjoy downtown Mystic, but in a quiet neighborhood. Just an overall delightful experience.”

“We had a lovely stay. It was really cool to stay in a historic home in Mystic. We had everything we needed and they included many thoughtful touches. We had 2 little ones with us and it was very easy to manage them there. Mystic was bustling on the weekend so we were thrilled to be walking distance to downtown and not struggle with parking. The home is also super close to a delightful little deli/market. All in all, wish we could have stayed longer and wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.”

A 10-minute walk from downtown Mystic’s shops, restaurants and waterfront and yet the property itself is secluded and quiet. “The historic Maxson House is an absolute gem! We shared the house with our friends (a fellow family of 5), and we all thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend. The house is beautiful inside and out with plenty of outdoor space for young children to play safely. The hosts also supply a variety of games and activities for all ages to enjoy. The Acela train that goes by multiple times a day was a welcome addition! All of our kids loved to watch it go by, and it was not disruptive whatsoever. Each room was comfortable and beautifully decorated. The mattresses were SO comfortable! The house does not have central AC, but each room has a window unit AC and they worked wonderfully! We do not like to be hot when hanging out or sleeping, and we were cool and comfortable all weekend. Additionally, we loved that we were able to walk into downtown Mystic. Overall, we loved our stay!”

The house was in a great location with a local market that was across the street with many local products and a deli where there was so many options for food. It was also walking distance to downtown Mystic. This place was amazing and I would stay there again. There is a train that rolls by in the back but it’s not loud and it really added to everything we loved about the house. Thank you for a wonderful stay, we will be back!”

One of those gems that’s so special you almost hesitate to spread the word :) The home looks like it is out of a magazine and there was such attention to detail throughout the whole stay - from the amenities to the intricate home design details. Each guest had a restful night’s sleep and we enjoyed the peacefulness of the setting while still being within walking distance of the town. There is a great seating area outside and an expansive lawn area, delightful if the weather cooperates. The beds are very comfortable and the entire house is decorated nicely: it does not feel like one of those IKEA rentals. The railroad tracks are right outside, but the trains were not an issue at all once inside or during the night.”

A well-stocked kitchen, high quality linens and towels, bathroom soaps and shampoo, etc. The mattresses on every bed were top notch and that is the sign of a host who truly wants their guests to be comfortable. The location is perfect and a straight walk directly into the heart of downtown Mystic. Although it was slightly overcast outside we did enjoy the charming patio our first night. My absolute favorite was the coffee and tea nook in the kitchen. Little touches like that go a long way when it comes to traveling. Checking in and out was seamless and very easy. We absolutely loved this house for our ladies weekend away to celebrate my birthday. Highly recommend this exceptional Mystic rental!”

“We loved our family stay at this home! We were a group of 6 adults and 2 small children. The house had enough space indoors and outdoors to spread out. We never felt cramped. We thoroughly enjoyed the large dining area to host family dinners. The outdoor patio area was great for enjoying the sunshine. They provide coffee, tea and some other treats. Loved the balsamic! Very close to town. We opted to walk the 3/4-1 mile multiple times to the main street for dining and shopping. I highly recommend and would stay again. Check in process was very easy (code provided to unlock/lock door.) Communication with the host was prompt.”
